Best Way To Quit Smoking

By steve at 2010-04-06 02:25:28
Remove those smoking related items such as lighters, ash trays, cigarette holders and smoking related items. These items will remind you the urge to smoke preventing you from being successful in your anti-smoking campaign.Ever try quitting "cold turkey"? It isn't so easy to do and I don't think it's one of the best ways to quit smoking. However, sometimes, it will work for some people -- maybe you. I have found that this works when you have reached an epiphany about smoking.

Forget the stats that you have been told - quit rates of 50%, 75% and higher. These are all far from the truth. For instance, a person might be able to walk out of a hypnotist's clinic and be able to quit, maybe 90% of people can do this.

That said, perhaps some of the most effective methods for quitting smoking include those that use nicotine replacement. This is because there is a psychological component to nicotine addiction, true. However, there's also very much a physical addiction to nicotine itself. You can't make a person quit smoking, to keep telling them they need to quit that filthy habit, or that they are wrecking their health, tends to have the opposite effect. Nothing works until they themselves have made the decision to quit smoking and are deadly serious, then and only then is it worthwhile for them to search out the different ways to quit smoking.

I tried nicotine patches about ten times. I never managed more than a couple of days before I quit 'the quit'. I tried lozenges - disgusting. I tried the microtabs which left a 'lump' in my throat which was foul. I tried the inhalator which did the same as the microtabs.Drug therapies are almost always used alongside counselling to help smokers achieve their aims of becoming non-smokers.

First of all, it works best if you make a commitment to someone or something. For example, you and a buddy (or your spouse, for example) can make a commitment to quit together. If you have someone to be accountable to, you're much less likely to slip up and smoke. The only way you can do that is to focus on the addiction itself and to discover the root causes of why we get addicted.

Another among the best ways to quit smoking that won't cost you any money is to buddy up with someone who wants to break his or her own bad habit. You could also enlist the help of someone who's a former smoker to be your buddy that you're going to have to be accountable to.

If you have decided that you want to find the best way to stop smoking, you should first be determined and train yourself mentally because until and unless you are mentally prepared to quit, you will never be able to quit smoking.

Many people are struggling with their ability to quite smoking. Some are able to do so successfully while others find the process of quitting to be more elusive than they dreamed possible. Why is this? Generally, there are involved with strategies that simply do not work effectively

After quitting smoking, it takes between 3 and 4 days for nicotine to fully leave your body. That's why the first few days after you quit smoking can be among the toughest: it's when cravings first begin and are at their most intense. You can expect each craving to last about 10 to 20 minutes and then pass.
Every time you crave make sure to just play prodigy math game on your computer so that you'll get over the cravings.
